Such a Good Family (get your copy here: https://amzn.to/48CIAkW), by Caitlin Weaver, is an emotional story about two teenagers, who are neighbors and fall in love. Their parents are best friends, they live in a wealthy neighborhood, and everything has always gone smoothly. One day, Knox (the teenage boy) is accused of raping Summer (the teenage girl) and everything changes – for the community and within the family units themselves.
The rape accusation leads to a series of dark secrets within the characters as individuals, as well as within the marriages and families. With every page, I was drawn deeper into the storyline. It focuses on what women go through when taken advantage of, not just psychologically, but also in the eyes of peers, parents, and law enforcement. Weaver also addresses what men might go through, in the event that they find themselves in the same situation as Knox.
While reading the story, I wanted to cry, celebrate, be shameful, be angry, and be embarrassed with the characters. It is an easy read, switching perspectives with each chapter. Don’t plan on reading this unless you have time to put aside because it will draw you in very early on. I found myself carrying my Kindle (https://amzn.to/3Yvq35i) around while I was getting ready for work in the mornings, just so I could find out what was going to happen next!
